Dear Sir,
Hong Kong.
Under date of November 26th the Eastern
Extension Australasia & China Telegraph Company Limited, and
the Great Northern Telegraph Company Limited, of Denmark, wrote me in a joint communication as follows:-
"We have furthermore been instructed to inform you
that the Companies have decided to reduce the Cable
rates for traffic between the Philippines on one side. and Hong Kong & Japan on the other side, and rates
assimilated with the rates in force via Radio will,
therefore, immediately be introduced unless the Radio Corporation is prepared either to raise these Radio
rates to the level of the present Cable råtes or to intermediate figures at which the Cable rates will then
be fixed".
So far as the Radio Corporation of the
Philippines is concerned we are not in the least interested in meeting existing cable rate by upward revision of our own radio rates, nor in establishing a compromise rate which
would be uniform for all routes. In either of these two
cases, and also in case the Cable Companies make their
